The LTT 9th Grade Girls Select team’s goal is to develop athletes who plan to continue the sport in high school and at the highest levels of competition. We promote dedication to the team and the sport, and aim to help our players become future leaders and productive citizens. We focus on helping our players develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed on the court and in life – as individuals and as a team.
Head Coach: Derek Fisher Assistant Coach: Derek Fisher is the current Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach at Loudoun County High School (second season) where his team has won consecutive District titles and he has won consecutive District Coach of the Year honors. His previous experience:
- Head Coach at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, VA 1999-2007. AAA Northern Region Champions in 2003, advanced to AAA State Quarterfinal.
- Assistant Coach at Oakton High School, 1994-1999, 4 time AAA Concord District Champions.
- Assistant Coach at Fairfax High School, 1992-1994, 2 time Potomac District Champions, AAA Northern Region runner-up, advanced to AAA State Quarterfinal in 1994.
-Coached various age levels (13-18) for the Potomac Valley Vogues AAU program, 1994-2010.
Assistant Coach: Tim Tibbits has coached basketball for over 36 years and has experience at adult leagues, high school, AAU, and youth leagues. Tim was President of Central Loudoun Basketball League from 2008 -2011, and has been a CLBL Board member since 2006. He has coached both Travel teams and House teams in CLBL, and this is his fourth year coaching with LTT, where he also is Head Coach of our 6th Grade Select team. Throughout his 29-year Navy career and his various experiences in coaching, Tim has enjoyed mentoring youth and teaching life lessons through sports.
Assistant Coach: Chris Leonard grew up locally and played for Loudoun Valley High School. His senior year, the Vikings advanced all the way to the Virginia State Championship game. Chris still holds the all-time scoring record at the school and was inducted as an inaugural member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. Upon graduation, Chris continued his basketball career on a full athletic scholarship at West Virginia University, where he played four years and was team captain and leading scorer his senior year. Chris participated in the NCAA tournament twice, still holds the school record for career three point field goal percentage, and his 1,235 career points is still in the top 25 of all-time Mountaineer players. Chris has continued his love of the game through coaching. He has coached six years and has experience on the high school and middle school levels, AAU, and elementary school house league levels. Chris finds coaching to be a rewarding way to pass on his love for the game and enjoys providing youth with opportunities to build the skills needed for future endeavors both on and off the court.
Assistant Coach: Les Hughes is currently the Boys Varsity Assistant Coach at Middleburg Academy. Before coaching at MA, he coached in the Northern Region for twenty years as a Head Freshmen, Head Junior Varsity, and Girls Varsity Assistant Coach at Fairfax HS (1993-1997), Annandale HS (1997-1999), and Oakton HS (1999-2012). Those teams won 10 District championships, 4 Regional championships, advanced to the State final four 5 times, and reached the State final twice.
In addition to coaching high school teams, he coached AAU basketball for the Potomac Valley Vogues from 1993 through 2005, coaching both regional and national teams in the Senior Division. Many of his players went on to play college basketball, and some of those players have now begun coaching careers at local high schools and with AAU teams.
