LTT Girls 6th Virginia Magic Classic 4-0
Loudoun Triple Threat is pleased to announced the formation of a U11/6th Grade Girls team coached by Marianne Nameth and Chris Leonard - Both Division 1 Scholarship Basketball Players for WVU.
Marianne was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where she started playing basketball in the 5th grade. In high school she was named to the All-State and Fabulous 5 Teams in Pennsylvania. She earned a full athletic scholarship to West Virginia University where she was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team her Freshman year and was invited to the US Sports Festival in the run-up to the 1988 Olympics. She graduated with a BA and MA in Counseling Psychology from West VirginiaUniversity. Marianne has worked in both the FairfaxCounty and LoudounCounty school systems as a guidance counselor at all grade levels. She coaches boys and girls basketball and has been active with Girls on The Run for the last 3 years. She views athletics as an opportunity to build character and life skills.
Chris grew up locally and played for LoudounValleyHigh School. His senior year, the Vikings advanced all the way to the Virginia State Championship game. Chris still holds the all-time scoring record at the school and was inducted as an inaugural member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. Upon graduation, Chris continued his basketball career on a full athletic scholarship at West Virginia University, where he played four years and was team captain and leading scorer his senior year. Chris participated in the NCAA tournament twice, still holds the school record for career three point field goal percentage, and his 1,235 career points is still in the top 25 of all-time Mountaineer players. Chris has continued his love of the game through coaching. He has coached six years and has experience on the high school and middle school levels, AAU, and elementary school house league levels. Chris finds coaching to be a rewarding way to pass on his love for the game and enjoys providing youth with opportunities to build the skills needed for future endeavors both on and off the court.
LTT Girls 6th goes 4-0 at George Mason Tournament Fairfax, Va May 21-22
LTT Girls 6th Competes well in Va State D2 AAU Tournament Congratulations to the LTT 6th Grade ladies whose their first tournament was the AAU Divsion 2 State Tournament at the Boo Williams Complex in Hampton, Va March 26-27. It was a challenging place to begin the 2011 Spring campaign, but our girls competed well with 2 close losses in pool play that would have advanced them to bracket play. One of the losses by only 1 to a team that made the finals. Great job, coaches, players and parents!
