LTT Boys 4th Grade
Head Coach Dawayne Young
Assistant Coach Byron Whitaker

Dawane played varsity basketball for Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA for three years where he served as Captain his senior year.  The Washington Post ranked him as one of the top 5 Ball Handlers and top 5 Three Point Shooters in the Washington DC Metro Area.  Dawane was offered Division II scholarships, but chose to walk-on at Division I James Madison University.  As a coach, Dawane’s focus is on the fundamentals of the game and increasing the overall basketball IQ of each player.  Dawane has coached youth basketball for the past five years in both Atlanta, GA and Ashburn, VA. This past Spring,   Dawane ended the 2010 AAU season as Head Coach for the Fairfax Stars 8U AAU team.  During his tenure, the team won two 8U Tournaments and were ranked in the Top 5 amongst 8U teams in the Potomac Valley Region.  The team also qualified for both the Division I and Division II National Tournaments as well as advanced out of pool play in the Maryland Invitational Tournament which featured Top Ranked teams from around the country.
Byron played varsity basketball for Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA for three years before missing his senior year due to injury.  He played small forward and was a district leader in blocking shots.  Byron was offered scholarships at several schools and chose to play at North Texas near his uncle, who was a former player at the University of Oklahoma.  Byron was also played on a team invited to the National Hoop it up Tournament.  As a coach, Byron feels his role is to sculpt not only the skills of players involved but also their mind.  “Toughness and determination wins over talent” is a popular saying in Byron’s household. Byron has coached youth basketball for the past 2 years in Reston, VA and looks forward to a lot of hard work and fun with the players this spring/summer.
